Other forms: amino acid sequences
An amino acid sequence is the exact order of the chain of building blocks used to make a protein.
Proteins are made up of amino acids that are linked together in a particular sequence. There are 20 standard amino acids used to build human proteins, and DNA provides a blueprint for which ones will be used, and in what order, to build a particular protein. The resulting amino acid sequence determines exactly how that particular protein will function: moving oxygen through the body, digesting food, or healing wounds, for example.
